Greenock Windows And Doors supply and fit patio doors to homes across Greenock and the surrounding areas, including Gourock, Port Glasgow, and Inverclyde. If you want more light into your living room, easier access to your garden, or just a better-looking rear elevation, new patio doors are one of the most practical upgrades you can make.
Every job we do is measured and fitted by our own local team. No subcontractors, no delays waiting for someone to travel from out of town. You deal with the same people from quote to completion.
What patio doors do you offer?
There are three main styles available, and each one suits a different kind of home or opening size.
Sliding patio doors are ideal for rooms where you cannot afford to lose floor space. The door panels glide on smooth rollers and park neatly behind one another, giving you a wide opening without the panels swinging into the room. They come in two, three, or four pane layouts depending on the size of your opening.
French doors open outward in a pair and give you a classic, clean look that works on both older terraced houses and newer builds. The opening is wide and unobstructed, which makes them popular for entertaining or for properties where easy garden access matters. A low-threshold option is available if step-free access is a priority.
Bi-fold doors fold and stack to one side and are suited to larger openings where you want the back of your home to open right up. Configurations run from two panels up to seven, and the total span can reach up to six metres. They work particularly well on kitchen extensions and open-plan living spaces.
What materials and colours can I choose from?
Both uPVC and aluminium frames are available. uPVC is a solid, well-proven material that holds its shape, does not rot, and requires very little upkeep. Aluminium has a slimmer profile, which means more glass and less frame, giving a more contemporary finish.
Colour options are broad. Standard white is always available, but most homeowners these days choose from a wider palette that includes:
- Anthracite grey, inside and out or dual-colour
- Jet black for a sharp, modern finish
- Cream and light grey for softer looks
- Woodgrain foils including oak and rosewood
- RAL colour matching on aluminium frames
If you have a specific colour in mind, it is worth asking us directly. Aluminium in particular can be powder-coated to match almost any shade.
How energy efficient are the patio doors?
All the patio doors we supply carry an A or A+ energy rating as standard. The double-glazed units are filled with argon gas and fitted with warm edge spacer bars around the perimeter of the glass. This reduces the amount of heat that escapes through the frame edge, which is where a lot of energy loss happens in older doors.
The difference is noticeable, especially on north or east-facing elevations where draughts and condensation can be a persistent problem with older sliding doors. Better insulation also means less noise coming through from outside, which matters if your garden backs onto a road or a busy area.
How secure are your patio doors?
Security comes as standard rather than as an add-on. Every door we fit includes a multi-point locking system, anti-lift devices to stop the panels being forced out of their tracks, and toughened safety glass throughout. The handles and locks meet current security standards and are tested to perform reliably over years of daily use.
Bi-fold and French doors also include shootbolt locking into both the top and bottom frame, which significantly increases resistance to forcing. If you want to discuss specific security requirements, just mention it when you call and we can talk through the options.
How long does fitting take?
Most patio door installations are completed within a single day. The exact time depends on the size of the opening and the style of door being fitted, but our fitters work efficiently and aim to leave the job clean and tidy before they leave. Bi-fold doors on a larger opening may take a little longer, but we will give you a realistic timeframe when we book the work in.
From the point of ordering, lead times are typically a few weeks. We will confirm the exact date once your order is placed and keep you updated if anything changes.
What guarantee do I get?
Every patio door installation carried out by Greenock Windows And Doors comes with a full ten-year guarantee. This covers both the frames and the sealed glazing units. If anything develops a fault within that period, get in touch and we will sort it out. There are no small print exclusions designed to catch you out.
